Platinum Games' Scalebound Isn't Just Action-Packed, It's A Full-Scale RPG, TooPreview
Hideki Kamiya, the man responsible for games such as Devil May Cry and Bayonetta, has become a living legend in the world of stylish action games developers. So when he presented the first gameplay's personnel for Scalebound this year Gamescom, many people were surprised to find that it's slower-paced, Action / RPG. Kamiya obviously has a penchant for fast-paced action, but he also worked on games like Okami and Resident Evil, that slow things down. For Scalebound, Kamiya was ready for a change of pace and to venture into new territory with the full-scale RPG.
Kamiya is known for the fact that he left the imprint of his hands on any creative project to which touched. Scalebound should not be any different. Hence, Drew, a man from the earth, which was transported to a fantasy world called Dragon. Once there, he connects with a dragon and a pair of working together in combat. Here are the most interesting things that we have learned about the upcoming RPG Platinum Games.
The main action of the game takes place around the relationship of Drew and his dragon, Thuban. Hand Drew scaled dragon, which symbolizes the fact that it is associated with the dragon. This connection allows them to work together and share in the battles vitality. The player controls Drew and A.I. cares about Thuban. However, you can give instructions for Thuban, for example, indicate to him the purpose or order to restrain all the enemies (or one - as needed).
Drew uses normal human weapons: a sword, a spear, a bow and arrow. At the bottom of the screen is the sensor, showing the strength of weapons, so you have to watch him, that in the midst of battle suddenly discover that your favorite (or only even worse) the sword broke and you were unarmed.
World Dragon developed energy source called pulse. This energy and fuel living things, this means Drew - through his hands Dragon - a pulse energy in it. It can push the pulse energy of his hands to harm enemies.
Drew is not just dependent on the weapons he can use various devices - such as stun mines to paralyze several enemies at once, or hook-cat to quickly hide from enemies. Drew can also be transformed into the power of the dragon-shaped, which allows it to deliver strong attacks over time.
After the victory over the enemy Drew can use the power of the pulse, to collect the remains of the precious stones. This is a game valet, which is used to purchase weapons, items and settings dragon. Be careful: if you use your dragon to kill enemies and picking up dead bodies decompose gems becomes impossible.
Thuban can help, too, out of combat. For example, it can destroy the obstacle that Drew can not avoid - such as the trunk of a huge tree blocking the road.
At the press conference it was demonstrated by Microsoft co-op for four players in Scalebound. Platinum Games refused to comment on it.
Let's sum up. At this point in the game there are: the acquisition of skins, armor, the use of skills and abilities, great battles, control the evolution and life of your dragon. Setup is very extensive, especially on how you build your character.
That's all I remember from the presentation Scalebound at Gamescom. At first I was not sure that the studio makes a really good game, but after watching the trailer I possessed in optimism. I'm a little worried about Drew - he went a little irritable in the trailer. I hope that soon Platinum Games will provide even more information about the game and will tell more about the co-op.
